Community Indicators for Your Community

Real, lasting community change is built around knowing where you are, where you want to be, and whether your efforts are making a difference. Indicators are a necessary ingredient for sustainable change. And the process of selecting community indicators -- who chooses, how they choose, what they choose -- is as important as the data you select.

This is an archive of thoughts I had about indicators and the community indicators movement. Some of the thinking is outdated, and many of the links may have broken over time.

Another Blog and a Free Video about Data

Another new blog about community indicators has been created -- this one in Sarasota, Florida. It's sponsored by SCOPE, a really neat organization that brings the community together for positive change, and uses indicators as part of a toolkit to bring sustainable improvements to Sarasota. And the people that work there are just good folk.

So drop on over to the SCOPE Community Report Card Blog and see what's happening.

Check out the video they link to -- it's Dr. Hans Rosling (of the Gapminder Foundation) discussing data. (Or go directly to gapminder.org to see his website.)

If you have a community indicators blog you'd like us to link to, please let us know.
